Maybe it won't allow multiple accounts with the same email/userid. I've created different Quicken IDs in the past for other purposes but it's hard to find out what the rules are for the new subscription model. Then you wouldn't care how long it took to get the refund from the old version. I don't know if upgrading works the same for all retailers or whether Quicken and Amazon just got crossways.Ī possible alternative I haven't tried: If you installed the upgrade now, maybe Quicken would let you create a new Quicken Account and activate it. This all seems exceptionally awkward even for Quicken. I've since discovered the Deluxe version includes the investment tracking features the comparison matrix on Amazon said were only available with Premier so I don't need to upgrade and won't find out whether this works. I hope you would be able to install and activate a different edition then. I presume your copy of Quicken will be deactivated. It says you'll receive that in a few weeks. which explains that you have to mail your receipt, activation key and contact information and ask for a refund. They can't do that if you bought from Amazon. (I didn't ask whether all the editions are the same so all they have to do is give you a new key or whether you have to download different software.) If you buy Quicken directly from Quicken, you can just pay the price difference and upgrade immediately. After I installed it, I thought I'd like to upgrade to Premier.
I just purchased Quicken Deluxe 2018 from Amazon.
